Which do you like better?

Wednesday, 28 February 2007

Here is a shot from Saturday. I was a bit out of my element as I used my Dad's camera instead of my own. It really throws you off as the controls are in a different spot and the camera just feels different when you are used to your own.

I'm not sure which version I like better - b/w or colour. What do you think?

A pile of layouts

Here are some new layouts. I wish I had a better way to take pictures of them - the photo paper is bad for glare and the colours always seem washed out. They end up looking even worse if I scan them.

The Sleigh Ride layout was finished 2 weeks ago and I am only just getting around to posting it now, but the rest were made tonight. I find if I plan the layouts and print the pictures in the evenings, I can put the layouts together when Ava is napping or in the evening after she goes to bed.

New layouts

Sunday, 25 February 2007

Here are a couple of new layouts. The Duckie one was inspired by a layout in the new Creating Keepsakes magazine. It was fun - I finger painted the title (haven't done that in a long time!) and I doodled the swirls and flowers. I also stitched on that layout with my sewing machine. It was the first time I stitched on one of my layouts.

Duckie

Paper: red cardstock unknown, Basic Grey Gypsy, Whisper White Stampin' Up cardstock, Creative Memories (orange)
Stamps: none
Ink: none
Accessories: Basic Black Stampin' Write marker, Prismacolor pencil crayons, Gamsol, blending stump, sewing machine stitching, acrylic paint

Fashion Plate

Paper: patterned paper KI Memories (I think), Whisper White and Pixie Pink Stampin' Up Cardstock
Stamps: none
Ink: Whisper White Stampin' Up craft pad
Accessories: Stampin' Up embossing powder, Provo Craft stickers, computer journaling, corner rounder

A random day

Thursday, 22 February 2007

The morning started out the way most do. A quick check of the weather and a thorough exploration of the main floor to see what has changed from the previous day.

but this innocent look...

was followed by an afternoon of pulling the dog's tail...

sorting the mail...

playing in Scarlett's water bowl...

and eating the food in Scarlett's food bowl.

New cards

Tuesday, 20 February 2007

I've been making some new cards in the evening after Ava goes to sleep as I kill time until Grey's Anatomy on Thursday night. The card making keeps my mind off of the "they couldn't possibly kill off Meredith, could they?" debate that is going on in my head.

Here they are:

Wild Birthday Shaker Card

Stamps: Wild About You, It's Your Birthday, Simple Shapes, Paisley
Cardstock:
Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: White craft pad, Real Red, Summer Sun
Accessories:
Real Red and Always Artichoke markers, white signo gel pen, stamp-a-ma-jig, white organdy Stampin' Up ribbon, Cricut scalloped circle, seed beeds, dimensionals, acetate sheet

............................................................................................................

Baby Congrats

Stamps: I'm Here, Play on Words, Paisley
Cardstock:
Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa
Accessories:
Cricut scalloped circle, Michael's ribbon, white signo gel pen

............................................................................................................

Wild About Birthdays

Stamps: It's Your Birthday, Wild About You, Paisley
Cardstock:
Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Cool Caribbean, Loves Me Designer Paper
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa
Accessories:
Pretty in Pink marker, Cricut scalloped circle, Michaels ribbon, Light Pink Stampin' Up ribbon, white signo gel pen, stamp-a-ma-jig, silver brads

............................................................................................................

If you are getting started in stamping or are just looking for some fun stamps to play with, my current favourites are the Paisley background stamp and the Wild About You set from Stampin' Up. The paisley stamp goes with everything and the Wild About You set works for all occasions. Stampin' Up products were used to make these cards. I also use them for a lot of my scrapbooking pages. If you want to learn more, check out my sister's blog. She usually holds classes once a month and teaches us a lot of great techniques.

A bunny, a kid & a whole lot of treats

Saturday, 17 February 2007

Today was Charles McDougall's first modeling gig. Yes - believe it or not he is a real bunny. Had I not seen his nose twitching, I wouldn't have believed it myself. Ava's cousin Lucas very graciously brought his bunny Charles over today so we could take some Easter pictures of Ava. I usually don't use a lot of props in my pictures, but they just seemed to fit.

When I say a lot of treats, they were for Ava to try and make her stay in one place. Lucas had treats for Charles, but they weren't needed. He stayed wherever we put him.

Thanks Lucas for the great ideas and for supplying such a beautiful and well behaved model. Charles was easily the most agreeable subject I have ever photographed!

Here are a couple of pictures from today's shoot:

Happy Valentine's Day

Wednesday, 14 February 2007

Here are some pictures from today. It has been impossible to keep Ava out of Scarlett's toy bin. Today she stole Scarlett's favourite toy, then Scarlett took off with it, Ava chased her, cried and then Scarlett felt guilty and gave it back. Then I took it away and put it up high where neither of them could get it. Yes I am mean.

I have been told by people at work that I have turned into one of "those" people. We used to have discussions and make fun of "those" people. And now I am one. Although I am devastated that I have joined this group, all I can say is that I still listen to regular music in the car, still stay up until the middle of the night and I don't watch Dr. Phil. So there. And if you are reading this, then I guess my blog isn't so lame after all. :)

We had a small computer glitch this evening. I was playing with Ava on the PBS kids web site and she was banging away on the keyboard. Ever seen your computer do this?

Some from yesterday

Here are some pictures from yesterday. I am definitely getting exercise chasing after Ava. Yesterday I didn't close the fridge all the way and she noticed and was over there in a flash.

Then we had an exciting game of pull all of the library books on the floor and push them around the room followed by what's this box doing hidden behind the couch. Luckily all of this was followed by a 3-1/2 hour nap.

10 months in pictures

Monday, 12 February 2007

Crawling everywhere...

stealing Scarlett's toy...

playing with Scarlett's toy...

crying when Mommy takes away Scarlett's toy...

pulling everything off shelves...

laughing your head off because you pulled everything off of the shelf...

trying to stand up...

chewing on everything including window cranks...

hiding under the kitchen table...

pulling fistfuls of Scarlett's hair...
