fabulous friday challenge

Thursday, 29 September 2011

Sorry everyone! Life has gotten in the way this week. Too many things going on and not enough hours in the day. I am sorry I haven't posted last week's winners. I will post two weeks of winners this coming Monday. Thanks for your patience!

This week inspiration struck again. Here is my favourite shot of the week:

Just a reminder of the rules:

1. The picture has to be taken by you.
2. The picture has been taken during the past week and it can be a picture you have posted earlier in the week.
3. Link up using the link to your individual blog post and not your main blog address.
4. Please include the Fabulous Friday button (below) in your post to link back to my site.
5. Leave feedback for five other participants. Let them know what you think!
6. By linking up you are okay with me re-posting your photo here if you are chosen for the top five.

Have a wonderful weekend!

day 253 - ridin' down the highway, goin' to a show

Tuesday, 27 September 2011

There are few artists I would bother seeing in concert. It's just not worth the money or the hassle. Some of the artists have no idea what city they are in and sitting down on the floor is really overrated because you can't see a damn thing.

Keith Urban is another story. His concerts are worth every. single. cent.

Tonight I was lucky enough to see him in concert for the fourth time. Big thanks to my wonderful brother-in-law who won tickets and was kind enough to give them to me. I am also incredibly grateful that:

A. I got to go to a dinner and a concert with a great friend.
B. I got to eat dinner at a place that had breakable dishes and that my meal wasn't served to me through a takeout window.
C. I got to sit still for two and a half hours and didn't have to run anybody to the bathroom.

It was two and a half hours of rock (you heard me - rock, not country) bliss.

Bravo, Keith. Even the drunk lady in front of me who kept waving her arms in my face and making kissy faces with her equally irritating husband couldn't ruin my night.

day 252 - i love a parade

Sunday, 25 September 2011

Tonight the Fall Fair parade kicked off with the annual Fall Fair Parade. This year I was actually there to see it.

It's funny - places to take pictures always pop up when you least expect it. I have driven and walked by this garage door a million times but I don't think I ever noticed it. I will definitely be going back.

day 251 - riding the midway

A simple trip up to the arena to sign the kids up for skating resulted in my wallet being further emptied and carrying kicking and screaming children out of the midway to the van.

Damn you fall fair.

day 249 - it's the most wonderful time of the year

Big day today. First day of SK and first day of "the balanced day". Two 40-minute breaks instead of three recesses, with 15 minutes to eat and 25 minutes to play.

I had the day off and was happy to have the chance to take Ava to school on her first day. I got to sit with Ava and listen to her stories while we sat in the car waiting for her best friend to arrive.

I'm going to miss her so much.

I suspect she may not miss us quite as much.

I wonder why.

fabulous friday challenge

Thursday, 22 September 2011

Happy Friday everyone! I took a PILE of pictures this week. Being two weeks behind in my editing, I won't be getting to the new stuff anytime soon. With that being said, I jumped ahead to edit this picture. I couldn't resist. It's my favourite shot from this week.

This shot was inspired by last week's Photojojo newsletter.

Let them know what you think!

day 248 - rocking the gitch

And the celebrations roll on.

One year to go before school and Owen is diaper-less during the day. We might need to invest in some suspenders for him as the diaper was apparently holding his pants up, but it's a nice problem to have.

Tonight he showed me other things he can do.

Good to know, however I thought we'd have a little bit more time between rocking the gitch and hanging from the monkey bars upside down.

Heart attacks today: 1.

fabulous friday - two weeks of winners!

Monday, 19 September 2011

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend.

Thanks so much for your beautiful entries! Tonight's post is a wrap up of winners from the past two weeks. Thanks for your amazing captures and for the inspiration. I hope you'll play along again next week!

Week One:
.....................................................................

This shot by Misty is incredible. You really need to see it full size to do it justice. The detail is amazing. Beautiful!

I love this silhouette shot by Tiaras & Tantrums. Great shot.

This is a great shot by Michelle. The processing rocks and her son is just too cute.

I love this shot by Sarah. What a fantastic shot. Love it.

And the winner of Fabulous Friday is...Shannon. Her picture makes me want to have another baby. And then I look at the chaos around me and think "OH HELL NO."

Week Two:
.....................................................................

I really liked this shot by Melanie. The look of joy on her son's face is captured so perfectly. I absolutely LOVE the last shot in the series.

I love this shot by Danelle. The detail is incredible! Beautiful shot.

This shot by Miggy rocks. Love the composition and the processing.

This beautiful shot was entered by Rhonda. I love everything about it, including the adorable subjects.

And the winner of Fabulous Friday is...Ashley Sisk. I absolutely love the b/w conversion and how she combined two shots. You should check out the entire series - it's amazing. These are the kind of travel photos that I love. Anybody can take a picture of Big Ben but very few would show the hustle and bustle around it. I love this picture.

Thanks again for participating! Feel free to pick up your button winners!

day 247 - back to school, back to school...

Sunday, 18 September 2011

The McDougall family is now ready for back to school. Well one of the kids, anyway. It also marks exactly a year until the boys go to school.

To mark the occasion, we had some fun today and did a little photo shoot.

It's another reminder to me that I don't need to get my fancy lights out to take fun portraits. Sometimes all you need is a big piece of grey backdrop stuck to the wall with masking tape and a couple of minutes in Photoshop.

Here are my babies:
