Day 101

I'm tired. It's been a long day. It was a great day though. It started out with a very excited now three year old leaving the flower shop with a bouquet of balloons she picked out.

Taking the balloons into the house on a pretty windy day. I threw a hail mary by randomly sticking out the camera and what do you know, it worked. Balloons in focus and an unintentional sunflare out of pure luck. Twice.

The beautiful and absolutely perfect princess cake my mom made (thanks Mom, xo).

We were under strict instructions not to sing happy birthday but somebody was still mad because people were looking at her.

Ava and Dad having a discussion about the princesses on the cake. For some reason I love this picture. So many memories come to mind. Everyone passing the babies off to one another to calm them and keep them busy so I could get stuff done, Erica trying to get Ava to blow out her candle, everybody in the kitchen all at once cleaning up and helping me out and muttering the occasional loving swear word at the person who just stole their dishtowel. These are the moments that I miss with my aunts, uncles and cousins living so far away. We're a loud group but a fun group and there is a lot of love to go around.

The big present I mentioned earlier this week? A 14-foot trampoline with enclosure from Mommy, Daddy, Grandma & Grandpa. With any luck we'll be able to start tiring these kids out.

This is gorgeous. An amazingly talented family member (thanks Samantha :) and thanks Jack & Karen) painted this beautiful picture for Ava's room. Ava loves it - she's just mad because once again lots of people are looking at her. Luckily she didn't do this too much...

because she did a lot of this:

My sister took this and I love it. Thanks Mel, xo. I should also mention that the yellow shirt and flood pants were not the party ensemble I picked for her. She had an adorable outfit on that my parents bought for her and she decided to change her outfit halfway through the party.

Ava got so many beautiful outfits and very cool presents. Toys for outside, clothes for the summer and this very cool princess castle tent from my cousin Erica. This was during the only meltdown of the day when she heard my cousins were leaving. Erica and Alex are laughing at me for snapping away during the meltdown and it's one of my favourites for today.

Other randoms for today. Ava and her beautiful cousin, Alex that she's been talking about all week and how excited she was that she was coming to her party:

Owen trying on my cousin Gio's sunglasses (if you look, you can see him in the reflection).

Ava waving goodbye to her guests.

After everyone left, Ava got to stay up late. Here's Ava, me and my double chin watching Marley and Me with my sister (who took this picture).

Bedtime.

And that was it. Off to bed. It's almost 2 am and I still have to figure out a way to stash chocolate before Ava wakes up and keep Scarlett from eating it before she finds it.

Thanks for looking!
