day 18 - my new (not so strange) addiction

I love to shop as much as the next person but I don't have the patience or the time for coupons. Or at least I didn't until I read my friend Rochelle's blog and saw this:

I don't know about you, but I could learn to coupon pretty damn fast if I could get $230 worth of groceries for $6.32.

So why not? Coupons come in and out of this house on a regular basis. There are resources online that I can order them from and they are mailed to me for free. If I grab the weekly newspaper off my porch before the wind sucks it up and plasters it against the back fence there are deals in there too.

So I'm on the alert and I think I have a new hobby. Thanks for the inspiration Rochelle!

I also have serious questions about my social calendar. Suddenly I am attending matinee movies and home before dark. I am looking behind can labels and studying every flyer I can. I spent Saturday night watching "Extreme Couponing" on TLC and was excited to do so. NERD ALERT.

Something I could have done without? Watching a lady on "My Strange Addiction" eat Comet cleanser like it was Lik-M-Aid. ::shudders::

Have you seen that show? It's a weird one. Tune in tomorrow night and you can see a lady addicted to eating couch cushions.

I know I will be.

But I don't think I'll be hungry.

I never did much with coupons, but I went to a coupon class in November and now I'm couponing too. I've been stocking up on great deals and I love it!

Was the coupon show in the US. Couponing is a lot bigger deal in the US than Canada. There are a lot better deals with them than here unless Canada has gotten a whole lot better.

What a crazy show!! I coupon, but not a ton! It's all a balancing act... and stealing info from the many coupon blogs out there helps a lot!

*snicker snicker*

It's a wild obsession. I got free floss yesterday and I feel like I won the lottery.

Thanks everyone!

Karen - yes, unfortunately it was Canadian. I think the basics are the same - you watch for specials, save your coupons and then cash in. Then there are some stores where you can stack coupons and use multiple coupons as long as they have different UPC codes. I don't think you can do that here in Canada. The other big thing that lady did was use some store card to double her coupons - we don't have that here either.

But...although I won't be getting a big basket of groceries for almost free anytime soon, I can still be smarter about what I buy and what I pay for it. We'll see how it goes. :)

Rochelle - congrats on the free floss. LOL
