day 88 - baby number one

Today was the day I have worried about for eight years.

Last night we discovered a growth on one of Scarlett's hind paws, so today I took her to the vet. It's not bothering her, but it is a mass that should be removed as it could become cancerous if it isn't already.

Scarlett is the first pet I've ever had, so it was my first experience sitting in a vet office and being told that your dog needs very expensive surgery or if the cost is prohibitive, riding it out until their quality of life starts to deteriorate.

Is March over yet because seriously. This has been a really bad month and I have never been so happy to say goodbye to a month than I am right now. Enough already.

I have gone through several pet losses already, so I can empathize with what you are going through. We will keep you in our prayers for complete healing.

I can still remember you getting Scarlett 8 years ago and hearing about all the trouble she got herself into when she was a puppy. I am sure she will be fine Jennifer. Dogs are tougher than you think. Stay strong and keep your head up. This month is almost over. Things will turn around for you. Great things happen to great people : )

I love the picture of Scarlett.

March leaves us soon. April is SURE to be better. Sorry to hear about your Scarlet...I hope that the surgery will be do-able both medically and financially. As a pet owner and lover, my heart is heavy and jumpy for you. I've been there. Warm k-9 filled prayers for you.
Take lots of pics of your girl....that will help.

Great picture! I'm sorry about the growth though - hope it all works out.
Good luck with the surgery. I have two dogs and two cats and I know first hand how attached we are to our animals. It's so wonderful to know yet another person who's pets are members of the family and are well taken care of!

I can't tell you how many of those aweful abused animal commercials that have been on today. This post is just want I needed.

We experienced watching our first baby (black Lab) as his health declined. Pets are family. Prayers for you.
