day 153 - stairway denied

We all have lifelong dreams that go unfulfilled. Few people (okay probably nobody) know that I wish I could play the guitar. Not entirely a shock given my love of classic rock.

Today I went for lunch with a friend (thanks Andrea!) and we went to a music store for some inspiration and appreciation of the arts. My eyes were peeled because surely there would be a sign forbidding the playing of "Stairway to Heaven". Oddly enough I didn't see one.

day 153

Here's a little known fact. I'm a Zeppelin fan but "Stairway to Heaven" is not one of my favourites. It's overrated in my opinion. Maybe I miss the appeal since I wasn't in high school in its hey day. When I was in school, the longest song to slow dance to was "November Rain" and you prayed to god you didn't get stuck dancing with a dud.

Please note that in no way am I suggesting that "November Rain" is a superior song to "Stairway to Heaven" but if it impassions you to make a case for the greatest rock song of all time, go for it in the comments!

My top three are as follows:

Led Zeppelin - Hey Hey What Can I Do
ACDC - Thunderstruck
Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle

First, I am a sucker for Wayne''s World movie quotes, so you've helped me to wake with a smile on my face. And I agree about stairway, but I can't narrow down the best rock song of all time. My three favorites are Taking care of Business, Magic Carpet Ride, and Remedy. Fun post!
