day 203 - thank god it isn't winter

Sunday, 31 July 2011

The past day I've been walking through the house wondering "What smells like strawberries?!" Today I figured it out.

Ohhhhhhhh. The old "toothpaste on the furnace register" gag.

Wonderful.

day 202 - long live the puddle jumper

The McDougall family continues to be a band of gypsies, moving from one pool to the other this week. We were lucky enough to get invited to another pool today to cool down in the 37 degree heat.

Two thumbs up for the Puddle Jumper water wing/ring combo. We've finally found something that lets the kids float around freely without pulling them onto their stomach or their back.

Thanks so much for the swim and the visit Michele & family!

fabulous friday challenge

Thursday, 28 July 2011

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a great week and that it was an inspiring week for all of you. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures this week. This is one of my favourites.

Thanks for participating!

Just a reminder of the rules:

1. The picture has to be taken by you.
2. The picture has been taken during the past week and it can be a picture you have posted earlier in the week.
3. Link up using the link to your individual blog post and not your main blog address.
4. Please include the Fabulous Friday button (below) in your post to link back to my site.
5. Leave feedback for five other participants. Let them know what you think!
6. By linking up you are okay with me re-posting your photo here if you are chosen for the top five.

Thanks everyone!

day 201 - we're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave

The heatwave rolls on. The high today was 36 degrees and 46 with the humidex. It was incredibly hot outside but I'm not complaining as most of my day is going from one air conditioned environment to another.

To beat the heat, we went to the public pool tonight. Here's Owen and Ava playing together in the shallow end where it's shallow enough for the boys to touch.

Now since this blog doubles as a baby book for my children (their actual baby books have dust on them and I haven't even cracked the spines on the boys' books), I feel compelled to mention the major milestone that happened tonight.

Some kids were dropped off at the pool tonight. Thankfully not IN it.

If you have no idea what this means, don't worry about it. I can hear my mother's "JENNIFER!" from here.

day 200 - it's 8 o'clock do you know where your grandmother is?

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

I've commuted to work for years. It's a 45 minute drive each way and for the most part it's uneventful. I get in the zone and before I know it, I'm at work and I don't remember much about the drive that got me there.

This morning was much the same. Driving down the road...listening to my music...I look in the rear view mirror...

what in the hell is that.

An elderly woman in a convertible with a passenger that at first looked like a large dog.

It was a stuffed animal.

day 199 - burger buddies

Tonight's dinner. You can call them "sliders" all you want Rachel Ray. They're Burger Buddies, plain and simple.

P.S. Enough with the EVOO already.

day 198 - i like small butts and i cannot lie

My sons take after me in a lot of ways, but one thing they don't get from me is their little butts that barely hold up their pants.

Needless to say I also don't have a back like a ninja turtle. I felt it necessary to point that out.

One thing they do get from me is a love for the hot tub. Why sit around in 80 degree water when there's 100 degree water sitting ten feet away?

day 197 - if this is the new church, sign me up

Monday, 25 July 2011

Wait a minute. You mean I get to sit here at the edge of a golf course with a beautiful view and sip a caesar while I wait for the wedding to start?!

AWESOME.

Today we were invited to one of the nicest weddings I have ever been to. It was a beautiful day and super hot but I'm not complaining. It took us a long time to get past the rain and get to the nice weather. Complaining or no complaining though, I was thankful I snagged a seat in the shade.

Congratulations Lisa and Johan!

fabulous friday - top five and a winner!

Thanks for another incredible week everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend and thanks for inspiring me with your beautiful photos. I always look forward to seeing your entries.

Here are my favourites for this week. I hope you will play along again this coming Friday.

This beautiful shot is by Kel and it's a part of a beautiful series. Make sure you check it out!

This shot by Kristen is beautiful and a great reminder that portraits don't have to show the entire face to be interesting.

This beautiful shot is by Kim. You really should check out her entire post. The spider pictures she posted are amazing.

I love this shot by Rosie. It's beautiful and the processing rocks!

And the winner of Fabulous Friday is...Tiffany. Even though I am going to have the theme song from Grease in my head for the rest of the night (I think I am the only girl alive who can't stand that movie), that's okay. It's worth it. This picture is incredible and the perspective is awesome.

Thanks again everyone. See you Friday!

Feel free to grab your buttons winners! Thanks again everyone and have fantastic week.

day 196 - the three s's of summer

Sunday, 24 July 2011

Today was the opening day of the McDougall family reunion. The kids were quite excited and looked forward to partaking in the three S's (not to be confused with the other three S's which are totally unrelated).

Smores,

sparklers

and spiderdogs.

(That's Owen.)

The picture of the marshmallows really doesn't give you a sense of scale. Have you seen the massive campfire marshmallows? They are about four times the size of a regular marshmallow (and four times the price...) and they make you incredibly efficient when roasting for the kids since one marshmallow is enough to kick off a week long sugar high.

fabulous friday - top five and a winner!

Tuesday, 19 July 2011

Welcome to another weekly wrap up! A big thanks to everybody for their beautiful entries. I loved them all and I am so happy you participated. Now...onto the winners.

Sunsets are one of my favourite things to take pictures of. I could say it's the vibrant colours I like, but I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it's a subject that doesn't talk back. ;) What a great shot Dina!

This shot by Missing Moments is so beautifully composed, sharp and I love the punchy colour. Beautiful shot!

This shot is not only beautiful, but the processing is amazing. What a fabulous shot Katie!

This shot by J. Taylor turned out beautifully. Have you tried any oil and water shots yet? I tried it a few months ago and it was a lot of fun.

And the winner of Fabulous Friday is...Miggy. I love this shot and what's even better is that it's a part of a beautiful series. You definitely should check it out.

Congrats everyone! Thanks to everyone for participating and I hope you'll enter again next week!

Feel free to grab your buttons winners! Thanks again everyone and have fantastic week.
