day 174 - missing: 7 ft columbian boa constrictor

Monday, 13 August 2012

Every night we sit around the dinner table and I ask the kids the same question - how was your day? What did you do and did anything exciting happen?

The answer is always the same...until today.

Me: "So Ava, how was your day? Anything exciting happen?"
Ava: "We couldn't go out at last recess because somebody lost a seven foot snake."

Whatever, Ava.

Needless to say I didn't believe her and then I logged into Facebook.

You know, I've lived in this town for over 30 years and I've heard some crazy stuff. I couldn't even begin to make this shit up.

day 174

The letter that came home from the catholic school called it a 7 foot Columbian boa. The letter that was sent home by the public school called it a 7 foot python. Tomato, tomahto. If a big ass snake jumps out of the bushes at you, run for your life.

Today's picture is illustrated by Ava.

day 173 - wait a minute, did you say nice shoes?

Sunday, 12 August 2012

Where have the past two years gone? Today Ava graduated from kindergarten and will officially move into grade one in September.

The graduation ceremony was so cute. Certificates were presented to each of the kids in the class and they compiled comments from their peers. The comments ranged from "Cameron has nice hair and teeth" to "Jake has nice ears".

day 173

My beautiful daughter was complimented on being good at drawing and writing, helping people when they are hurt and for being very kind. Her peers also told her that she has nice shoes.

day 173

WHAT?!?!

day 173

What the hell happened to her shoes?! This is her second pair this year and these shoes are only a few months old. She started the year in a size 13 and was a size 2 with air conditioning by the end.

I believe these shoes are what the younger generation calls "sic". They're sic alright.

day 172 - swimming in pools with boys

Swimming with neighbours on day 172.

One thing is clear. The boys are fearless. $10 says that one day they'll be jumping into this same pool off the roof of the neighbours' cabana.

day 171 - photo night (I know, I know - when isn't it)

Waiting for photos on soccer picture night.

day 171

I really like this photo. It was taken on my iPhone and enhanced with Photoshop. I have to say that of all of the purchases I've made in the past five years, my iPhone was by far the smartest. It's the best money I've ever spent.

day 170 - come on feet don't fail me now

Am I skinny yet?

Back to power walking tonight and no power walk is complete without Pitbull and Edwin Starr.

Edwin Starr may seem totally random, but remember that I grew up in the 80s. Here's some trivia for you - what 80s movie featured "25 Miles" by Edwin Starr?

day 169 - the father's day photo bomb

Another beautiful and sunny weekend...almost two months ago.

It was a day of flowers in bloom, cute puppies, annual photos with dads

and photo bombing dogs. Thanks, Tug.

I would also like to thank my son Owen for informing everyone at the Father's Day barbecue that his mother has a bum crack. That was a really nice addition to the day.

fabulous friday challenge

Thursday, 9 August 2012

Happy Friday! This week we had some photo fun. Five years ago Ava went on her first play date with my friend Maggie's kids. At that time Maggie's barn had an awesome sliding barn door and we took pictures of the kids in front of it. Ava was just learning how to walk and used the door for support.

Fast forward five years. That section of the barn is now long gone and the door was moved to the inside of the barn. On Monday, Maggie and her husband were nice enough to dig the door out and a photo shoot ensued. :)

This is my shot for this week. What's yours?

fabulous friday challenge

Thursday, 2 August 2012

Happy Friday and to those in Canada, happy long weekend!

This week's photo was a lucky accident. Ethan was cuddled up in my lap after swimming and I totally lucked out with the flare from the setting sun. It was one of those moments I will truly miss. He was sitting in my lap, teeth chattering away and his cute little eyelashes were all stuck together from the water. I am always amazed by how unique the boys' eyes are - they are this beautiful shade of green with a ring of hazel around the inside.

And that's my shot for the week. What was fabulous about your week?
